The Democratic candidates for governor and lieutenant governor,
Ed Rendell and Catherine Baker Knoll, share their thoughts on
unfunded mandates, tax reform, funding for local roads, and much
more in a one-on-one interview with the Township News.
This November, the Republicans are putting up Attorney Gen. Mike
Fisher and state Sen. Jane Earll for governor and lieutenant governor.
The pair have very definite views on townships, their importance
to state government, and the high-profile role the lieutenant
governor will play in the administration.
The Association offers two programs aimed at preparing your township
for any legal matters that may come its way.
Recycling in Pennsylvania has come a long way since the state
passed its recycling law 14 years ago. Efforts to "reduce
and reuse" are not only helping the environment but are proving
to be a boon to the state's economy, and townships, too, are finding
that recycling yields multiple benefits.
For the second time in less than a year, a rural Somerset County
township was thrust into the spotlight when calamity struck yet
again. This time, nine miners clung to life in Lincoln Township
after becoming trapped in a flooded shaft 240 feet underground.
