Ideally, nuisances — those pesky offenses to the senses— would be resolved without official intervention. Very often, though, township supervisors find that regulation is the only way to protect individual and community rights while keeping the peace.
Manufactured housing, formerly known as the mobile home, is losing its “not-in-my-backyard” stigma. The new generation of these homes can fit seamlessly into many neighborhoods, and townships are changing their zoning to make that happen.
In recent legislative testimony, PSATS supported the concept of a bill to help speed up the collection of delinquent property taxes but said limits must be placed on taxpayer fees.
In this latest introduction to PSATS’ Executive Board, meet Bill Hawk, a local government leader who says the ability to listen is a critical asset.
This installment of “PSATS Profiles” introduces the Association’s Environmental Affairs and Information Technology staff.
The 2008 Farm Bill will funnel millions of dollars to rural America for infrastructure and other programs, thanks in part to the work of the National Association of Towns and Townships.
