Five of the 55 new legislators who arrived in Harrisburg in January are current or former township supervisors. Their local government background, they say, is already serving them - and their constituents - well in this statewide arena.
Even the most carefully constructed ordinance may face criticism and court challenges. By following some basic rules, however, township supervisors can help make sure their local laws withstand, or better yet, avoid judicial scrutiny.
