Townships are home to every kind of business and industry imaginable. And while the two don’t have to be best friends, they do have to be good neighbors. Those that have forged a relationship, talk regularly, and work toward the best interests of both say in the end it pays big dividends.

One man’s noise is another man’s music. And as a township official, you’re often caught in the middle when residents clash over loud parties, noisy businesses, and barking dogs. So how do you bring a little peace and quiet to your community? Well, it all starts with a noise ordinance.
- Ken Klothen, executive director of the Governor’s Center for Local Government Services, realizes one thing: Pennsylvania’s future hinges on the success of its municipalities. And with the introduction of a $2 billion economic stimulus package and a handful of new community-based state programs aimed at creating jobs and revitalizing the places we call home, he says the future is looking pretty good.
Pennsylvania is the featured state at this year’s annual conference of the National Association of Towns and Townships. This is the perfect opportunity for township supervisors to represent their state, meet with their peers from around the country, exchange ideas, and make their voices heard in Congress.
