With Pennsylvania’s roads and bridges literally falling apart and ever-dwindling state funds proving inadequate to keep up with needed repairs, lawmakers are pushing for more money for local transportation needs.
Every township has at least one trouble spot that sees more than its share of accidents due to unsafe road conditions. Eliminating the problem need not be costly. Some simple, low-cost improvements can go a long way toward keeping drivers safe.

Pennsylvania’s roads, bridges, dams, and other infrastructure are in bad shape, as are the nation’s, according to an engineering society’s recent report. Although the state’s infrastructure is declining, state agencies and local programs are working hard to prevent further deterioration.
PennDOT’s Infrastructure Bank provides low-interest loans so townships can make badly needed infrastructure improvements that they could not otherwise afford.
