Townships are discovering the benefits of an image makeover by developing new logos and even entire "branding" campaigns to help them stand out from the crowd. Besides focusing attention on the township's mission, branding can help attract grant dollars, new businesses, and even new residents.
As the biggest benefactor of public libraries, Pennsylvania's townships are asking themselves a tough question: How much can they stretch an already-tight budget to help fund a valuable community asset?
In a recently completed report to the governor, the State Planning Board recommended legislative changes to improve the state's economy and citizens' quality of life. Some of the proposals, however, could significantly impact the way townships do business.
